The Participating Breeders

Bob and Belinda Grant of Northwoods Alpacas grew up in the city and suburbs of Rochester with no farming background whatsoever. After beginning their family in the suburbs and a quick multiplication of children, they soon started outgrowing their small starter home.

Weekend ‘country’ drives and day trips led to dreams of living in the country. Belinda began a several year quest for her next dream house. A list of desires grew longer as time went by for what they would hope to one day have for their ‘home in the country’. An alpaca was never on that early list! It would still be a few years off before they ever heard of the alpaca.

In 1998 their dream of country living came true with the purchase of ‘Northwoods’. A big country home with loads of history and character along with some established fruit trees and woods, plenty of room for a big garden, wide open space for the kids to grow and play, a large stocked pond, and much more.

We would be happy to help you discover more about the wonderful ‘World of Alpacas’ and share both resources and personal experience. Contact us for more information or to schedule a farm visit. We’d be happy to have you visit with us and our Northwoods Alpacas!

John and Tacha Gennarino of Sandy Creek Alpacas started their alpaca journey in late 2003. As soon as they saw alpacas in person at a local open house they knew they would be alpaca breeders. Five years later, they haven't regretted the decision for one moment.

Their goal at the beginning was to breed for high-quality alpacas in a variety of colors. They knew they wanted to be able to have one of them eventually become a full-time breeder. Last year, they reached their goal. John turned from his career of 23 years to become an alpaca breeder full time. This time has offered him the ability to work with the alpacas and pay close attention to the herd.

While Tacha still maintains a full-time job outside the farm, she also runs 'Paca Print Design, a marketing company catering to the needs of the alpaca community. She is currently the Marketing Chair for AOBA (Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association), EAA (Empire Alpaca Association), and ABWNY (Alpaca Breeders of WNY). She enjoys being active with alpacas and looks ahead to the bright future of the industry.

Sandy Creek Alpacas welcomes you to our farm.
